Subsea robot which fulfils three wishes
An article on forskning.no explains how researchers at UiT and NTNU, thanks to an old shipwreck at Svalbard, have been able to test how subsea robots can be used for research purposes.
The World’s northernmost shipwreck lies in Trygghamna at Isfjorden on the west side of Spitsbergen. Last fall, during an expedition with the RV Helmer Hanssen, this was investigated by marine archaeologist Øyvind Ødegård from NTNU and his team. The wreck is an old factory ship by the name of “Figaro”, which burned and sank in 1908.
